The main opposition UNP today expressed hope that the visit of its leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to India would bring positive results with regard to jailed former Army commander Sarath Fonseka.

“We hope India will request the Sri Lanka government to release Fonseka, “ UNP MP and former Foreign Affairs minister Mangala Samaraweera told a news conference today.

He said the Sarath Fonseka’s issue is included in Mr. Wickremesinghe’s agenda on his current visit to India. (YP)

When father bullies children, the mother asks the next door gentleman to advice father. This is motherly love.

Big in size is not only criteria to become big brother

    Roshan Monday, 30 May 2011 09:58 AM

India will not help, it is India who framed SF saying that he is trying to topple the Govt.

    shani Monday, 30 May 2011 09:51 AM

The governments inability to do their main job properly, which is governing the country, invites third parties intervention. This is whats happening here. Ranil is not the best but seemingly better at diplomacy than anyone in the Govt

    Brenan Monday, 30 May 2011 08:55 AM

Totally. He wont be released and india wont come in between thts for sure..our leaders are begging for what?

    Brenan Monday, 30 May 2011 08:52 AM

This is unprofessiona. We are begging justice from another country to our own people.......

    I Hussein Monday, 30 May 2011 08:29 AM

I think its a good idea provided India takes it seriously. But India is happy with UPFA at present for good reasons.

Pakistan should be kept awy from our affairs to keep the WEST HAPPy... that may be the onlly way of survival for some

    Vijayabahu Monday, 30 May 2011 07:58 AM

Lease of General Fonseka cannot categorize as small thing.. Its our BIG concern... Politicians MUST correct mistakes they made..

    Fayad Monday, 30 May 2011 06:10 AM

Getting SF release is a good move, but if you go behind India for each & very thing we are heading for Big Trouble.

In Europe there are small countries they don't go behind UK for every move they know if you depend on them you are heading for trouble. .

    RW Monday, 30 May 2011 07:33 AM

Ranil has a big brain although he does not know how to become the President. Otherwise how can he continue to be the leader of the party while losing some 20 elections continuously.

NADARAJAH SETHURUPAN Monday, 30 May 2011 07:20 AM

We can solve our own problems: MR ?

NADARAJAH SETHURUPAN Monday, 30 May 2011 06:39 AM

    no more Pakistan?

    dxb Monday, 30 May 2011 06:33 AM

This is not a good sign .... it will create more problem for the soverignity than SF release ..... Further it is clear that though Ranil , Mahinda & SF all are in age of 60 plus the are not matured enough to sort out our own issues .... Dears are going to wolf to have the problem sorted out !!!!

    Bumba Monday, 30 May 2011 06:31 AM

This is a good move by the UNP. The Indian government is not very happy with the non professional way Sri Lanka is administered at present.

    Maidan Monday, 30 May 2011 06:34 AM

Fayad, India is our big brother. So we cannot by pass them.

    ajith Monday, 30 May 2011 06:24 AM
