Did you mean RW that you want Hambantota MP to take UNP to new heights. Surely you have proved beyond any doubts that you can't do that.
Anu K Tuesday, 21 December 2010 10:19 AM
You all have forgotten the Ranil's two years from 2001 to 2003. True democracy was seen and full freedom to the press was given. US $ regained and minus economy brought to plus. Only bad thing was not given any job in the government sector. Still if the majority of UNPers believe that Ranil has to go then he should go. That is the democacy. But one day you all will regret that you chased the clean hand intellectual for vultures.
Sceptic Tuesday, 21 December 2010 10:23 AM
I agree with Asoka. It MAY only happen if Sajith became the leader and YOU helped HIM to take the UNP forward!! It is time you quit with dignity.
noxurs Tuesday, 21 December 2010 10:28 AM
UNP lost not because it does not have supporters but because all this time it had an unimaginative, uninspiring, "tie-coat" wearing leadership which appealed only to the Colombo urban classes, Majority of voters in SL are not the Colombo urban classes. MR plays the cards well by projecting his Madamoolana roots which are more appealing to the masses. So if the UNP wants to win it should project an image that is appealing to the masses. The best bet is Sajith Premadasa (SP) who has roots not only in Kesalwatta in Colombo but also somewhere down south. The former UNP leaders like Senanayakas and Premadasa did not belong to the Colombo elite. The only person who had this background was JR. And this country still suffers from his doing or should I say undoings because he was the author of the Presidential system which make rogues even out of saints. All people with any sanity should rally round SP to see the end of the royal family.
KD Tuesday, 21 December 2010 07:36 PM
For UNP to reach new height, go fly a kite.
KD Tuesday, 21 December 2010 07:41 PM

Anushka Tuesday, 21 December 2010 11:31 AM
Enough already, Ranil. Did anyone notice that Sajith is nowhere to be seen in this so called press conference? Ranil is making these shows to pretend that he and Sajith have come to an agreement that will keep him as the leader

Ranil is the brain for sri lanka... and sajith is the charisma.... Sri lankan voters ate foolish when deciding.... they look at the dress and game kama... but what matters is who is capable.... Hope Ranil can rule the country with others support so Sri Lanka will be the miracle of the WOrld not ASIA...
Roshan Musa Tuesday, 21 December 2010 07:23 AM
you lost all your elections due to some reasons of your unluck. First CBK sympathy votes for her lost eye , then Northern province election "boycot" by LTTE and last by "jilmart". your colleagues did not have gutts and the need to explore these matters to the masses because all of them under their own agenda. They too branded you as a obsolete case.

Madihe son Tuesday, 21 December 2010 08:06 AM
What an ignorant statement. UNP has decended to such depths and in the doldrums that they need a miracle just to reach ground level let alone 'New Heights'. What about the lost ground and the new cracks appearing ? Good luck Ranil.
Ossan Salam - Doha Tuesday, 21 December 2010 08:16 AM
It is better to hold national referendum to select UNP leader.....we are sure MR will arrange if UNP is agree......

please clean your tung with Detol thrice a day and may be you may have some sense in a couple of years time.
Gayan Samarasekara Tuesday, 21 December 2010 08:32 AM
Country needs Ranil's leadership. He is apparently the only gentleman who can develop the country. Quite unfortunately he cannot deliver thrilling speeches to less educated majority. Sajith should support him, exactly as R Premadasa did during JR's time. Sajith has to wait, he has time for the party leadership.

this is what you call 'intellectual' commenting! Well done Gayan but you will see many 'mediocre' people coming here and thrashing you - what to do that is the fate of Sri Lanka.
