Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe told Parliament yesterday that his party was willing to participate in the proposed Parliamentary Select Committee aimed at finding a political solution to the national question, if the LLRC report was discussed at the select committee.
Responding to an allegation made by Chief Government Whip Dinesh Gunawardene that Mr. Wickremesighe was a proxy of the international community, the opposition leader said his party did not accept allegations of war crimes that were being made against Sri Lanka.
In response to a comment made by Mr. Gunawardene that the government was ready to discuss anything in the select committee, Mr. Wickremesinghe urged the government to make the necessary amendments to the proposal to set up the committee in order to make provisions for it to discuss the LLRC.
