The United National Party (UNP) says its disciplinary committee will meet on Monday to discuss action to be taken against UNP member Shantha Abeysekera over his alleged involvement in the attack on UNP Puttalam District MP Ranga Bandara.
UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya, speaking to Daily Mirror online, said that the disciplinary committee will meet on Monday and review a response from Abeysekera after the party called for an explanation over his involvement in the attack, after which appropriate action will be taken.
Earlier this week Palitha Range Bandara said he was fed up with his party and had decided to boycott party events and meetings as the party had yet to take disciplinary action against Abeysekera over his involvement in the brutal assault on Bandara just prior to the General Elections.
Bandara, who sustained serious injuries in the assault and was hospitalized, says he will attend Parliament once in three months to ensure he does not lose his seat in Parliament but will not attend UNP meetings or events.

Shame on UNP.
I think Mr Rangebandara has been more active than most of the senior memberes ( including Ranil) during privious elections.
It's natural that some one fells like this.

Whatever action taken by UNP now on this incident, you will see both Mr Range Bandara & shantha Abeysekara would be in same stage with the HE in near future

Can the UNP afford this sort of lethargy when it is in such deep trouble? And can they blame those who seek to cross over? No wonder the President visited the hospital to see Bandara!
