Underworld figure killed

An underworld leader was shot dead during a confrontation with Special Task Force personnel during a ganja raid in Thanamalwila a short while ago, sources said.Initial reports said that when a group of STF personnel raided a major ganja chena in a thick jungle in Thanamalwila today, a group of men armed with T-56 weapons had opened fire at the STF personnel.
During the shootout the underworld leader, who was wanted for several crimes was critically injured and later admitted to the Wellawaya hospital. However the suspect succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the hospital.
