The government will construct a sophisticated underground mall in the Badulla town similar as the one to be built at Galle Face, President Mahinda Rajapakse announced in Badulla a short while ago.
The President had earlier announced that the government was looking at building an underground shopping mall at Galle Face whilst protecting its environment. (Daily Mirror online)

I have no words..the complete hypocrisy..

Badulla does not need underground malls! Badulla needs better roads (to the villages away from it), better hospitals, better schools and more development in the estate areas!

For some people anything and everything is wrong. Very pathetic.

Malls to cater to a nation of beggars? So what else is new?
Geronimo Saturday, 04 September 2010 02:13 AM
So the fun starts and a lot of money to be made via commissions. Where are your priorities my good President????

Let your frustration out mate, because you will be in opposition for long, long time.

Why build underground spending many more millions, WHEN SPACE IS AVAILABLE ON THE GROUND.
Sri Lanka is NO SINGAPORE or HONG KONG where ground space not available at all.
Dayaratne Saturday, 04 September 2010 03:43 AM
Expensive projects will be unnecessary if population is limited by other means than emigration. Emigration probably vitiates our gene pool!
sandman Saturday, 04 September 2010 03:46 AM
Probably thinking of selling Galle Face in the pretext of building an underground Mall..........
Perethaya Saturday, 04 September 2010 03:55 AM
This is exactly what the poor beggars wanted! A roof above their head and a rest of the mall their public lavatory. Keep it up!
padma Saturday, 04 September 2010 05:18 AM
