The United Nations said that its expert panel on Sri Lanka would deal with parties other than the LLRC, since the Panel was broader than Sri Lanka’s own Panel.

“..the panel will work broader than simply dealing with the LLRC,” the UN’s acting Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq told media in New York yesterday responding to a question whether the Panel would speak only with the LLRC in Sri Lanka.

as i commented earlier, if the UN's mission is not broader, it simply a copy and paste finding. I welcome the UN's decision. We need an inquiry since the allegation is severe. It cannot be ignored. Only innocent should be protected not criminals regardless of their ethnicity or religion.

The UN is absolutely right. All investigations will have to be broad based and they will also have to speak to the real victims who are living abroad now and those still in Refugee Camps or under detention for no reason.
