Powerless - What a vile statement to make on the death of two students - to call it a gift. There is something basically very wrong with your way of thinking. Do not bring imaginary entities into a sad and tragic event.

    Powerless Friday, 05 November 2010 09:10 PM

Death is a gift of God to free ourselves from this eveil world.

Smart Aleck Friday, 05 November 2010 11:41 PM

Why is this happening regularly? Don't our youth at least read newspapers about these tragedies and be more careful? Don't the parents have any control anymore?

    Ranjith Saturday, 06 November 2010 02:01 AM

Its not about "some people", but you!. Addvalue to your life and people would respect you same manner.

    hamshaa Saturday, 06 November 2010 03:02 AM

the two boys to be blamed . do they think about their parents be4 making a decision foolish mad university students

    hamshaa Saturday, 06 November 2010 03:05 AM

why are you all hanging on politics even in a pathetic situation.the two students are to be blamed not U.V.P. or J.V.P or their parents look before you leap.

    hamshaa Saturday, 06 November 2010 03:06 AM

don't hang on politics like an idiot

    unl Saturday, 06 November 2010 04:00 AM

And Yeah we know how SF treated some army perssonal as a Humen being.

asoka abeywardena Saturday, 06 November 2010 04:42 AM

if so, why don't you go and take that gift?

    Ruwan Saturday, 06 November 2010 04:43 AM

yeah right, poor guy not even given a cup of tea

    AH Saturday, 06 November 2010 05:17 AM

exactly AP.. end of the day we are humans with feelings.. its pathatic to see some ppl behave like strange creatures

    AH Saturday, 06 November 2010 05:42 AM

we saw how he was behaving like a human during presidential election (kalawedda, buruwa etc).. also, if he is so clean, ask him to bring his son in law to courts

Calistus Jayatilleke Friday, 05 November 2010 06:38 PM

Some people feel a pseudo kindness to the University students only when they are dead; otherwise, they are troublemakers controlled by the JVP. This is hypocrisy.

Above the crowd Saturday, 06 November 2010 08:11 AM

A P you are right ,some people are real scum. that' s the way they were brought up.

    Fernandez Saturday, 06 November 2010 01:15 PM

calistus has inside information. He knows that the God has taken them and he is looking for mere mortals to blame.

    subzero Saturday, 06 November 2010 02:46 PM

    oh sri lanka :(((

sri lankan Saturday, 06 November 2010 02:54 PM

the government should take full responsibility for not having life guards on the beach..specially when university students were going for a swim..

    N K Ratnam Saturday, 06 November 2010 04:11 PM

I am beginning to feel that the karma that befall the island when nearly 40,000 innocent people were massacred to kill few thousand LTTE cadres is taking its toll.

    polkiccha Sunday, 07 November 2010 04:56 AM

Calistus has a morbid obsession with politics. Each and every news is based on politics to him. poor old man

    Sicillian Sunday, 07 November 2010 05:36 AM

Government has nothing to do and they have done their part. University students can read and in Wellawatte there are enough number of boards warning them not to swim. I hope they are "University Students" meaning they can read.

Pottuvil putha Sunday, 07 November 2010 06:15 PM

Calistus you are an insensitive parasite. Wonder what sort of a life you are leading - probably a sad one as it reflects on your every comment. Get some education and grow up.

Bluff Bluff Friday, 05 November 2010 03:08 PM

Jayam, You are right in your comments!

    Chandana Friday, 05 November 2010 01:34 PM

Who is responsible? Blue? Red? Green? Satakaya?

    AP Friday, 05 November 2010 01:36 PM

please don't try to play your dirty political game, at least when some one is dead.

    Anushka Friday, 05 November 2010 01:42 PM

Isn't it about time we trained some lifeguards and put them on the beaches in Sri Lanka? The lack of professional lifeguards is a real concern since our beaches attract a lot of tourists too. I'm sure we will get plenty of volunteers if we had such a system.

    jayam Friday, 05 November 2010 01:43 PM

    Calistus,
beave like a human beign, this is a life.

    raja Friday, 05 November 2010 01:47 PM

It seems to be Uni Studnets are going through a really bad time.

    winnie Friday, 05 November 2010 01:51 PM

why not put danger boards in areas where its not safe to sea bathe.

    perumal Friday, 05 November 2010 01:54 PM

Please learn that today is a holiday for SJU but IUSF (a JVP front) had coerced the students in the medical faculty to participate in a sticker pasting campaign on the high way. If the ill fated students are from the Medical faculty of SJU, then IUSF (ie. JVP) is responsible, without doubt.

udul prem Friday, 05 November 2010 02:17 PM

IUSF students??? good good if its them !!

    MagodisThuma Friday, 05 November 2010 02:18 PM

Make swimming compulsory for all the students !.

    Yehiya-Doha Friday, 05 November 2010 02:24 PM

Parent send this fellows with lot of dream. All political parties have to sit one table for student & need professional minister for high education.

Calistus Jayatilleke Friday, 05 November 2010 01:21 PM

Who is to blame for this ? JVP ? or UNP ?

The Judge Friday, 05 November 2010 03:10 PM

Our deepest synpathies to the loved ones who lost a life. May God give them solace

    michi Friday, 05 November 2010 03:26 PM

Yeah We know how government treats SF as a human being.

    suwantha Friday, 05 November 2010 03:50 PM

when universities are closed these desperated students try to get a fun to forget their miserable life.it is better if some one can intervene and resolve their problems and to reopen universities.

Oyage Podi Guru Friday, 05 November 2010 03:54 PM

Danger boards and life guards are OK, but Sri Lankans should know that at this time of the year one does not go in very far into the Indian Ocean.

    Henry Friday, 05 November 2010 04:18 PM

Calistus. Your sense of humour against the dead are most disgusting.
    Henry

    Mohamed Friday, 05 November 2010 04:24 PM

This time nobody is to be blamed except the students themselves. This is the rainy season & these days in the evenings it is raining. Why did they go swimming? Maybe it is their destiny!

    modaya Friday, 05 November 2010 04:46 PM

Please register in wellawatta police before you go to swim .

    Rahumathullah Friday, 05 November 2010 05:50 PM

I remember what happened to a mentally retarded person in Bambalapitiya sea. This can be in the same line as the top people are now hunting the uni students.

    Fair n Square Friday, 05 November 2010 06:18 PM

the video footage of the innocent guy who was beaten to death by the police comes to mind

bimbo boy Friday, 05 November 2010 06:21 PM

Where are the Life Savers? We need to have them monitor the dangerous bathing areas of our seas like in Australia and the coasts of the US.
