Two police officers were reportedly  killed and two others were critically injured when a gang of robbers fired at a police vehicle chasing after them in Abepussa a short while ago.

The gang which had robbed a Pawn shop in Warakapola had fled the scene when the police were informed and started chasing after them. The suspects who were in a vehicle had fired at the police vehicle killing two officers and injuring another two.

Army and police personnel have surrounded the Abepussa forest after the suspects fled into the forest ditching their vehicle. The injured police officers have been admitted to the Kegalle hospital. (Rohan Kumara & Supun Dias)

Not only army guys but also underworld gangs. Good if weapons are available in the open market, so all can be equipped with arms at any times.

They have to be the Tigers, LTTE.

    Sena2 Friday, 10 December 2010 07:16 PM

This is alarming and reason for concern for all law abiding citizens. Robbers seems to be getting very professional and sophisticated in their crimiinal operations.

We have too many armed forces deserter and weapons in the Island. Now, we got to be prepared for Chicago styled incidents in the Island. This is much more dangerous than Terrorism.

    sltk2004 Friday, 10 December 2010 04:14 PM

This must be a conspiracy by the Western forces...

    David Friday, 10 December 2010 04:03 PM

I agree Army deserters are a problem but its very hilarious when you say they are more dangerous than LTTE, may be a supporter of lost cause trying to gain some self satisfaction lol

    ranga Friday, 10 December 2010 03:46 PM

Iam sure again the killers and robbers are from Army or Ex Army according to the recent incidents. the police are doing a very good job to protect the people by sacrificing their lives too. the police must be given more powers to control all criminals including the army who are calling themselves security forces in sri lanka without valid reason.

    DHA Friday, 10 December 2010 03:34 PM

I sure these guys are Army deserters.....These people are becoming more dangerous than LTTE....
