Two Chinese nabbed at BIA with currency, garnets

Two Chinese nationals with foreign currency and gems worth Rs. 7.8 million were arrested by the Sri Lanka Customs yesterday, while attempting to smuggle out to Delhi at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

Custom Spokesman Leslie Gamini said the suspects, aged 26 and 59,  had been arrested with US$ 50,690 and Baht 133,400.

He said they had also seized 46 of gems (Garnets) valued at Rs. 452,800 concealed in their hand bags.(DS)
