There is an acute struggle by trade unionists and some others to grab most of the wealth amounting to billions of rupees earned through the hard labour of the ordinary people of the country.

These views were expressed by the Deputy Finance and senior minister Dr Sarath Amunugama  in a ceremony held  at the Hatara Liyadda Divisional Secretariat office  to hand over appointment letters to 150  graduates.

Today all are speaking of the economy of the country and difficulties but this situation prevails because there are few ministers who earn income for the country and a large number of spending ministers. Meanwhile the ordinary people earn the country’s income- - six and a half billion by employees in Middle East, two and half billion by garment factory employees and one and a half billion by estate workers who toil from dawn in rain and hot sun. But there is a big struggle by others to share these earnings among themselves.

We all should work to earn for the country which needs efficiency. Inefficient government institution should be held responsible for their inefficiency. Those who are unable to earn profits should be sent home, said the minister.

Tapping of Kithul is a good source of income. We should encourage this industry and develop it. Police should treat those employed in this industry as people who help the economy of the country.
