Three arrested for providing asylum facilities



Three suspects were arrested for allegedly providing multi day trawler ships as asylum facilities for people to flee to Australia, by the Matara Criminal Investigation office on Sunday (14) morning, police said.

Police revealed that the suspects had sent about 68 persons to Australia. Three cheques valued Rs. three million, a passport and a mobile phone were taken in to police custody.

The three suspects were arrested from Matara Dikwella area and were residents from Mawanella, Negombo, Nakulugamuwa areas.
