Speaking exclusively to Daily Mirror online UNP Parliamentarian Thalatha Athukorala stated that the protest held in front of the Supreme Courts complex will continue. "We are here to protest against the illegal detention of General Sarath Fonseka and in support of him. We are protesting to urge the government to restore democracy within the country," she said.

When asked if the the UNP protesters would join the impending protest organised by Anoma Fonseka, Athukorala said they will watch how things pan out.  "We are all here for a common cause, the whole UNP parliamentary group is here at the protest and we will see how things pan out later on," she said.
