Opposition and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe today requested the government to bring in legislation to acquire all assets which belongs to LTTE all over the world instead of laws to take over enterprises of Sinhalese businessmen.

Mr. Wickremesighe who was speaking at a seminar organised by the UNP affiliated Eksath Lak Wantitha Front, for the wives of three wheeler owners at their party headquarters Siri Kotha today said the government should take over these assets belongs to the LTTE so that they could be used to pay compensation to those whose properties and assets taken over by the Tigers during the war. He said these should also be used to provide assistance to the war displaced people.

Alleging that there are petrol sheds and ships which belong to the LTTE, Mr. Wickremesighe said assets belong to Kumaran Pathmanathan ( KP) alone exceeds US $ 600 million. (Yohan Perera)
