Sooner or later, it was necessary to do, now remain to reach the political party that stands behind them

Agreed. should be for all universities including Buddhashrawaka in A'pura. Go ahead MR & SB. We should think of Country's future. Not JVP's future.

Student unions & ragging to be fully banned from all universities. Those going to study shud do just that without wasting their life. Full force to be used if required to ensure discipline.

Weldone Professor Rupasinghe & Hon Minister SB.
Students were provided with Free education in Sri Lanka to study, but once they come in to the Uni premises, some back guys, chnage the students attitudes, direct them to a wrong side.
Hon Min, was telling this for months, that every one should follow up the UGC regulations etc.. to earn,learn.. but they did not..
Finally, all 58 have to go through their punishments, rest have to attend the classes,exams..etc..
Punishements were given, when these 58 were caught up, while they were doing..physical ragging.
will any one allow your son physically ragged??? Never.
Parents should understand the truth.
Well, next monday hope others will attend the lectures..
Good luck for the rest of the students.

Long overdue action, if this had been there lot of intelligent student live es could have been saved during 88 ,89 ,and our education standards could have better than malaysia ,India bagaladesh, actually we had better standards,
Duminda Sunday, 27 March 2011 02:42 PM

How is this good? It's another undemocratic act by an authoritarian government.
Is the JVP a problem in our universities. Definitely. But you can't throw throw the baby with the bathwater. And banning student unions won't stop the problem.
The fact is Namal's "Nil Balakaya" is causing more havoc inside unis than the JVP. who's going to stop that?
Jehan Sunday, 27 March 2011 05:08 PM
This is Stupid comment, as a university grad i know who makes all these troubles Its Antharaya and JVP, yes stopping unions can be INTERPRETED as anti democratic but its FAR DEMOCRATIC by allowing students to study and remember its u and I who pays for all these
LD Sunday, 27 March 2011 05:28 PM
you do not know them. they are not democratic at all .students lives are palything for them , even last year one student died at sabaragamuwa due to ragging and the worst thing is there is no empathy from the so called student leaders and they still want to do raggaing . you have to experiance them to know their dark side .if this action is undomcratic the so called student federations are million times undmocratic.
