Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa would send two names from among Tamil and Muslim Parliamentarians as nominees to the Parliamentary Council (PC) to President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Friday as the Prime Minister and the Opposition leader had failed to send in the names of their nominees as required by the 18th Amendment, Acting Secretary General of Parliament Neil Iddawala told Daily Mirror a while ago.
“The seven-day period expires tomorrow, Thursday, September 23 when we count seven days even leaving out the weekends and holidays. The Speaker would not have a choice but to use his discretion and send two names from among Tamil and Muslim MPs,” he said.
