Sri Lanka is to enter the global medicinal drugs market by producing Ayurvedic drugs to international standards, Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation (ADC) Chairman Somaweera Chandrasiri said.

He said the demand for Ayurvedic drugs are on the rise and there was a huge potential for value added, high quality Ayuvedic drugs in the international market.

“We expect to construct a factory to manufacture Ayurvedic drugs to global standards and to the quality guidelines of the World Health Organisation. The ADC has already taken initial measures to obtain a 420 acre land with the approval of the cabinet,” Mr. Chandrasiri said. (Sandun A. Jayasekera)
