if the middle east countries are so bad . why did you spend 25 years of your life time there mr.subba?? isnt it funny?

    Patel Friday, 22 October 2010 10:56 PM

Tarnish the image of this country?
    What image?????

    zanj Friday, 22 October 2010 01:10 PM

Before making rediculous comments one must try to understand why this SL 'maid' has killed this so called 'Lady', knowing of all the consequences like , 'shame' to the motherland, shame to your family and loved ones, and almost certain death sentence, in Jordan.
    a.she is insane
    b. she must have experienced so much of cruelty and abuse, both mentally and physically, that she tried to escape, but was caught and brought back, and ultimately had no choice but to do the un thinkable.
Government must look in to the welfare of people in Saudi, should make the meddle east governments take responsibility for the safety of our workers,,
Hopefully this will be a reminder..

Muhandiram Imsid Friday, 22 October 2010 08:15 AM

Will it be Jordan next to ban Sri Lankan workers?

    ToddySundar Thursday, 21 October 2010 08:08 PM

Well done lady . Give them some of the treatment they give our girls.

    guna Thursday, 21 October 2010 04:13 PM

Mr Karu, if u only knew how much money that comes to SL from the Middle east , u wouldnt be making such a stupid statement...

    bernard Thursday, 21 October 2010 03:59 PM

Useless commenting without knowing the facts. It can be the other way around, land lady's husband could have killed her and putting the blame on the house maid.

    Josh Thursday, 21 October 2010 02:29 PM

are people do all this and they say they torture us!!!

remember Rizana?? remember those guys in Dubai who killed each other?? remember the Sri Lankan employees who together protested to remove a fellow Sri Lankan??

Mynah Bird Thursday, 21 October 2010 02:23 PM

Undoubtedly the poor maid was provoked beyond any tolerable limit. Sri Lankans are a force to reckon with and should not be treated shabbily.

pissu pusa Thursday, 21 October 2010 01:45 PM

If done by soudi madi it was "provoked" if Done by University student" then unguided rebels

Palitha Heenthotuwa Thursday, 21 October 2010 01:31 PM

If the housmaids are sent back home to Sri Lanka the economy will be effected and the suffering of the poor will increase.

    Ranjan Thursday, 21 October 2010 11:43 AM

The article says the lady is from Horana. I am amazed as it is only people from Kelaniya and Nawalapitiya who takes the law into their own hands.

    ajithith Thursday, 21 October 2010 10:37 AM

The maid killer will sure to have a tough time over there.
Sooner or later our maids are sure to loose the market in ME.
It can be a blessing in disguise.

    karu Thursday, 21 October 2010 10:26 AM

Mr.Roshan Raz the fact that subba spent 25 years there does take away from what he has said anyone with experience in the middle East knows that this is true.
This is a very sad situation - it was only recently the case of the young girl in Saudi and so soon we have all forgotten about her. Soon this poor girl guilty or not will face serious punishment and soon we will forget her too. Once again we go back to the fact successive governments UNP,PA etc etc have benefited from the foreign remittances sent home by these poor hard working women but in return they have done nothing for them. It is time very seriously as a country we should look at the Middle East and see if the price being paid for these foreign remittances is worth the suffering our people go through. Mr President you stood up to the world to win the war and we all appreciate that - now lets see you really stand up and do soemthing right again (not done much right since the war was over).

    Saleem Thursday, 21 October 2010 09:55 AM

Extreme provocation of powerless people by those who hold power can lead to rebellion and killings as the LLRC slowly finds out.

Pol Booruwa Thursday, 21 October 2010 05:13 AM

Chandi regina!!!! land lady must get compensation as we are getting from them.

    lankan Thursday, 21 October 2010 08:40 AM

Good for a change. Its the Housemaids ,who get killed usually

Above the crowd Thursday, 21 October 2010 08:37 AM

Well done girl ,Way to go ,an eye for an eye. If the land lady harassed you..

Top Sri Lankan Thursday, 21 October 2010 07:39 AM

Hmmmmmm, no wonder why they want to insert nails .............................

    subba Thursday, 21 October 2010 07:20 AM

Siri and others, in Middle East countries (I have 25 years experience there), it is nearly impossible to hear the full facts on criminal proceedings, the courts always take the side of the citizen rather than the poor maids / foreigners. The police will probably get her to sign a forced confession. Presumed innocent till proven guilty does not work here, if you are a foreigner more specifically a poor immigrant from South Asia, you are premused guilty until proven guilty.

Stop sending our poor girls to the Middle East, full stop.

    polkiccha Thursday, 21 October 2010 06:38 AM

obviosly the maid was retaliating anyway nice to see an arab at the receiving end of things

    lankaputha Thursday, 21 October 2010 06:30 AM

    Who You?
the person who comes to conclusions with out even knowing whether the landlady is a saint or a daemon. Shame on you

    Siri Thursday, 21 October 2010 06:19 AM

Before you made such deductions you need to hear the full facts from both sides. It's easy to preach when you are outside the predicaments. For me, self defense and self respect is more important than the so-called image of the country -which incidently, is nothing to write home about by now.

    Safeek Thursday, 21 October 2010 06:06 AM

might lead to ban on procurement of employees from Sri Lanka as saudi did.

Oyage sudu kella Thursday, 21 October 2010 06:00 AM

True that we feel sorry for another human being, but please dont think that our housemaids are very innocent, one should live in the Middle East to know about them. I have had very very bad experience with our own housemaids while in the ME. They are up to all kinds of stuff.

    mihlar Thursday, 21 October 2010 05:48 AM

    another shame to Sri Lanka

    malkanthi Thursday, 21 October 2010 05:40 AM

The harrassments of the land lady must have been intollerable. So our maids also have taken the judgement into their hands!. Not bad falling in line with the law of our country.

    Wasantha Thursday, 21 October 2010 05:38 AM

A young lady of 19 years could commit such a barbarian act , a very pathetic situation. Sometimes she may be suffering from mental agony due to the reason that she being treated by her masters. However, this type of acts tarnish the image of the Country and create very embarassing situation to the others as well.

knight Rider Thursday, 21 October 2010 05:34 AM

Act of self defense or tolerance beyond control ? will we know the truth beyond this point ?

    nayomie Thursday, 21 October 2010 05:14 AM

If they treat people like animals sometimes it backfires!! The court can dismiss the case saying extreme provocations lead to the unintended tragic incident.
