SL Customs to keep close eye

Investigations are underway to find out how the arrested 56 Sri Lankans had smuggled gold to India from Sri Lanka, Customs spokesman Leslie Gamini said.

"We are carrying out investigations over the 56 Sri Lankans who smuggled gold to India, but we cannot interfere with the Indian government’s law, any way we will keep-in-touch with the Indian government”, Mr. Leslie Gamini said

Sri Lanka Customs officials said they would be keeping a close watch on passengers especially bound to Chennai and Mumbai from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA). (Chaturanga Pradeep-DM Online)

    I have en several times customs officers coming to Immigration and escorting their clients bypassing customs checks. It is time to employ intelligence officers to catch these officers and clean up the customs department
