The ‘We are Sri Lankans' organisation yesterday charged that there had been six murders and two suicides in the Jaffna district in the past two months allegedly owing to the large military presence in the north which the organisation said should be removed immediately from the area.

The organisation which aims to promote national unity said despite continuous assurances from the government that the military would promote the quality of life and development in the north and other parts of the country, the organisation’s Convener Udul Premaratne said the military presence created further restrictions to the people living in the area. Pls do not tarnish the image of military though you probably get funds for this from interested parties. Your clique seems to be friends of LTTE.

In that case those rates are far better than other parts of the country. In other parts of the country the weekly rate may be equal to that.

Country under Military rule does not last forever. We have very good examples for it. Sooner it becomes a democratic country, run by the people living there, for the people living there, with freedom, it is better for the whole country.
