Its such a shame that all Sri Lankan's are not taught to swim from a young age. If like in the West everyone is encouraged to learn to swim this type of tragedies would not happen.

It should be made mandatory for every boat to carry enough life jackets for its passengers. Very recently I went for a one hour boat ride in the sea with only few people (including myself) wearing life jackets.
