Six beggars fined Rs.10 each

Six beggars charged with begging and obstructing pedestrians in Kollupitiya were fined Rs.10 each and severely warned by a Colombo Court yesterday.

The accused Kumari Hettiarachchi, Sudath Silva, Welu Allen Mel, Lilly Kumari, Welu Ganeshan and Fathima Riyana were produced in Court by the Kollupitiya police. They said the accused had committed an offence under section 3(1) of the Vagrants Ordinance.
