Siridhamma College principal arrested

The principal of Siridhamma College, in Labuduwa, Galle was taken into custody by the Bribery Commission a short while ago as he was accepting a bribe of Rs.300,000 to admit a child to grade one for next year.

The principal had asked the boy’s father to give him Rs.300,000 to secure a place in the grade one batch. The father had informed the Bribery Commission, and the principal was arrested this morning while accepting the bribe.

According to the Director of Investigations of the Bribery Commission SSP Somaweera Lokuge the suspect is to be produced in courts shortly. (Supun Dias)
