A four-year-old child allegedly died due to medical negligence after admission to a hospital in the Rattota area of Matale District, sources said
The child is Pamudha Hirushan of Pallegama, Pitakanda in Rattota. The child had fallen sick on Vesak Poya Day after he returned home from a pilgrimage to the Aluvihare Temple in Matale.
The child’s mother, Damayanthi Kumari said, “When we took the child to hospital, the doctor was watching TV. I pleaded with the doctor to help. He told me that the child had had a fit. A little later, he informed me that the child was OK, and went back to watch TV. Had he been a little more attentive, my child would have been saved.”
The child’s father was too distressed to speak. (Ruwan Dananjaya-Rattota)

They will punish the parents of the child for disturbing the doctor from watching TV and not the doctor. That's how our law is put into action today. Today we have LAV (Lost all Values) and not Law.

All Sri Lankans are living in a fools paradise. The politicians are having a gala time at the expense of the common man.
me Thursday, 30 May 2013 11:24 AM
dear kishani, any child born in sri lanka has the opportunity to become a doctor, even a specialist through free education. its just that a lot of students don't make use of this, and the money the government spends on these students is wasted. please dont talk as if you personally paid for the doctors education, and dont be jealous of those who gain from the opportunity of free education.
