UPFA Galle District MP Sajin Vaas Gunawardene and UNP Matara District MP Mangala Samaraweera had a show down in Parliament today with both members recalling how they visited a restaurant named ‘Buddha Bar’ in New York in the past.

MP Samaraweera mentioned that he had taken MP Gunawardene to a Buddha Bar in New York when the latter was found spending time helplessly in a cheap brothel in New York.

He admitted this when MP Gunawardene asked him whether the former could recall taking him into a ‘Buddha Bar’ in New York.

Upul Gunawardena Thursday, 07 October 2010 05:25 PM

What has happened to these MP’s? To get elected they promise a world of things to their constituents. Once they get elected they go to the Parliament and talk nonsense, which is of no value for the constituents. In Parliament they should talk about their promises to the people and how to get them done without this nonsense.

    Faqi Thursday, 07 October 2010 05:35 PM

This is how tax payers money is being spent on these foreign trips in bars and brothels. I dont think anyone is surprised by this. I remember many years ago when I was a student in a foreign country a delegation came from then Ceylon and all they wanted to know was where the brothels were in town, I was so embarrassed for them.

    Nuwanda Thursday, 07 October 2010 06:12 PM

    Mervyn Friday, 08 October 2010 12:35 AM

The visit to the bar is a cover up, they have really visited the BARS at 42nd street, in New York and the Government had to foot the bill.

    Anushka Friday, 08 October 2010 01:36 AM

It's high time our MPs understand that talking like hooligans in parliament is not going to impress the public.

    chami Friday, 08 October 2010 02:31 AM

    Hippo Friday, 08 October 2010 02:43 AM
