Seven Sri Lankan nationals and an Indian have been arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) of India for smuggling, in Mumbai. They were in the city allegedly to smuggle 84 Swiss gold bars worth Rs 1.84 crore.The suspects have been sent to judicial custody till May 21. As per the remand, three of the suspects, arrested from a South Mumbai hotel, confessed to smuggling gold from Colombo to India.
They then led the team to the other suspects who were staying illegally in the city. “The interrogation is complete. The prosecution asked for a judicial custody of all the eight accused.
The Sri Lankans have given voluntary statements in Tamil, admitting to their role in the seizure of gold from Sri Lanka,” said special public prosecutor Fransis Saldanha.

Sri Lankan who speak Tamil can give statment in Hindi state in tamil, but Can he give statment in Tamil in Sri Lankan... man man man....

Yuri: they confessed in the language they know. Their statement will be translated to Marathi. This happens in any country.
