Search on for two escapees

The police and the relevant authorities are searching for the two detainees who escaped from the Anuradhapura Prison on early morning Saturday (29), Prisons’ Commissioner (Ret) Major General V. R Silva told Daily Mirror online

He added that the two detainees were not hardcore robbers but were suspected of being involved in several robberies.

Meanwhile when the Prisons Commissioner was questioned regarding the inquiry into the recent clash at the Anuradhapura Prison added that the final report had yet be handed over.

A top level inquiry was launched to the incident at the Anuradhapura prison, where one prisoner was killed and another 25 were injured. A team comprising the Prisons commissioner and a Prisons Superintendent has been appointed to conduct the inquiry. A senior prison official was also appointed as the in-charge of the Anuradhapura Prison. (Daily Mirror online)

    If the two prisoners were only suspects in cases of robbery what were they doing in prison in the first place?

    I read news lot of detainees run away from the prison still did not catch sum of them what is the reason have to conceder try to solve the problem..

    Well said Cobra! Isn't it obvious! They were in prison because they were only "suspected" robbers. If they were convicted felons, then they would have been in SL parliament.
