Meanwhile Sri Lanka Cricket sources said that Jayasuriya will need clearance from the Sri Lankan Cricket Board in order to contest while playing cricket.

    After the post of sports minister? If he were a true sportsman, he would not enter politics. This is sheer greediness! What a shame!!!

    Monday, 15 February 2010 07:10 PM

    Shame on you, getting into this stupid fellow's 'ball-game.'

    Monday, 15 February 2010 10:04 PM

    Earlier it was 'Ane manda Sarath, now its ' Ane manda Sanath...'

    Monday, 15 February 2010 11:22 PM

    Are you being brought to fill the vaccum created by Arjuna Ranathunga?

    Monday, 15 February 2010 11:55 PM

    Good decision by you dear Sanath - the majority will surely vote for you. Wish you all the best!

    Tuesday, 16 February 2010 12:13 AM

    Monday, 15 February 2010 10:06 AM

    Sanath, its very dissapointing to hear this news. I thought you had more common sense,

    Monday, 15 February 2010 07:49 AM

    Dear Sanath, you don't belong into any party or race or religion. You are a national asset. And a true national hero of our time. You enjoy all the power and money already, its hard to imagine what more you could gain from entering politics. Please think of what happened to SF. If you have time to decide. PLEASE MAKE A BETTER DECISION OF YOUR CHOICE.

    A beloved Fan

    Monday, 15 February 2010 09:40 AM

    why did he get this stupid decision? dead for another hero..

    Monday, 15 February 2010 09:43 AM

    Monday, 15 February 2010 09:50 AM

    please don't be stupid to enter into politics and join with idiotic leaders.

    Monday, 15 February 2010 09:50 AM

    The only way to play the world cup at 42 is to be elected into Parliament... Sad state of affairs

    Monday, 15 February 2010 09:52 AM

    Politicization of sports told Arjuna Ranatunga, now, it is sporting of politics?

    Monday, 15 February 2010 09:52 AM

    I totally agree with Sarath. I don`t know why these politicians invite sportmens and artists to contest to General Election.

    Monday, 15 February 2010 10:05 AM

    If he is to contest, then he should quit his contract with SLC.

    Monday, 15 February 2010 07:44 AM

    sports and politics should never mix.
    very disappointing.

    Monday, 15 February 2010 10:07 AM

    Sanath
    You are smart person,it is good time don't miss it,you can earn lots money in politics than cricket.

    Monday, 15 February 2010 11:05 AM

    Yes cricket is a decent game - politics is a dirty game because only the scum come to its surface.

    Monday, 15 February 2010 11:12 AM

    This is his decision and we should honor.

    Monday, 15 February 2010 11:22 AM

    Shame on you Sarath for joining the dictators is the respect you earned from the people of Sri Lanka not enough. Don't get your name spoilt by joining this dirty game.

    Monday, 15 February 2010 11:23 AM

    and then he came,
    to light up a flame,
    he had the game,
    any bowler, he could tame,
    and scare them with just his name,
    everyone who tried, he overcame,
    with that he built fame,
    he was 'the' man to every dame,
    that no one could frame,
    everyone wanted more of the same,
    but now what has became,
    is really lame,
    and an utter shame
    and only he should take the blame.

    Monday, 15 February 2010 11:24 AM

    The Sri Lankan expatriate community should seriously consider forming a new political party and putting forward educated, competent names to lead our nation.
    I mean, just look at the calibre of leaders we have had for the past 2-3 decades! Nothing but a bunch of baffoons!
    * Break this cycle of family run governments.
    * Eliminate corruption!
    * Stop the brain drain!
    * Freedom of press!
    * Establish true democracy!

    NOW!!!

    Monday, 15 February 2010 11:25 AM

    Sana boy!! Sorry ma thamai!!!
