This is the same story they mentioned when they were building Noorachcholai. CEB said they dont have money and where did they find this kind of money all of a sudden...Another loan and another increase in power prices soon and thereafter.

At one time we were totally against this because of the costs of production. What made them change their mind? Arm-twisting by India or bigger commissions?

CEB engineers and all worker and public should start immediate protest, if necessary arrange strikes against this project.
From a modern coal power plant cost of production electricity of a kWh is less than Rs 6/=, but for this power project it will be paid at Rs 18/= plus capital cost to put up and profit of power station. With all these expenses it will be cost close Rs 40/= per kWh. the most expensive power plant of Kerawalpitiya combine cycle one is costing less than Rs 28/- per kWh.
