The Sabaragamuwa University that had been closed for more than three weeks will reopen on October 27, the university administration said.

Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages Dr. Manoja Ariyaratne said that the academic activities of the first year students would commence on Monday and those of the other students on November 3.

A tense atmosphere following a protest staged by the students resulted in the closure of the university indefinitely on October 5.

However, the university administration decided to the reopen the university on October 27. The decision was taken during a meeting with the university teachers and the parents on Thursday (24). (Prince Ratnayake)

If the students cannot appreciate the free eduction they enjoy then either give their places to some others who will or make them pay for their education.
