In Russia bikers are allowed to ride in highways as in other European countries.
Interesting if there are signs to show that bikers are not alowed to enter highways in Sri Lanka. First you need to how he entered and why he was not stopped, if it is prohibited beofre jumping in to conclusions.
Russel Tuesday, 03 December 2013 05:53 AM
true, They have minimum engine capacity limits to ride in highway, more powerful than our small cars.

Dont compare bikes in SL with bikes which are run on highways in other countries.
andarademaalk Monday, 02 December 2013 08:26 AM
It they allow bikes to go on the highway there will be more accidents considering the way our people ride. In fact there should be a separate cycle lane in order to allow them to ride on a highway. Good that it is not allowed.
Aja Monday, 02 December 2013 08:23 AM
Toll gates are not at the starting point so this confusing ...i guess
Hiran Monday, 02 December 2013 08:16 AM
Truth Hurts, please don't lie, as it gives wrong info to the readers! Many countries that I know UK, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore etc. charge toll on bikers too, but a different price.
RohanR Monday, 02 December 2013 08:06 AM
We seems to be very happy that we let three Russians alive....? Two of them were 'taken care of' in the worst a woman would be a put through, and the third one with a fine for riding along the expressway.

Get a life man - maximum punishment - in our country where rapists, drug dealers and murderers get off scot free and even sit in parliament you want maximum punishment for a crazy guy that rode a motorbike on a the highway. So Idiotic - where have you been?
Ralahami Monday, 02 December 2013 07:16 AM
No the problem is that the toll gates are only at the end of the expressway and motorists are free to enter. Although there are designated police officers at the entrance the time this happened they would've either been away for breakfast or else the motorcyclist would have hidden himself behind another larger vehicle
Truth Hurts Monday, 02 December 2013 06:55 AM
Riding a bike in a highway can not and should not be considered as a crime. All other countries with highways allow bikers and they are also exempted of toll. Sri Lanka should obtain this policy.
Independent Monday, 02 December 2013 06:51 AM
Very strange. Were the personnel manning the gates overawed by the skin colour?? Maximum punishment should be meted out to this fellow. Try this in in Russia we will not come alive. Must be made to respect our laws .
