Rs.6 mn fraud: CID arrests pension officer

The CID has arrested the Kegalle Divisional Secretariat Pensions Officer in connection with some Rs.6.3 million fraud.

Investigations had revealed that the suspect identified as Neil Sujeewa Jayasinghe of Pilimathalawa had fraudulently credited the money allocated for pensioners to his personal account.

The arrest was carried out after several complaints were received by the CID.

The investigators found that Jaysinghe’s account showed a credit balance of Rs.6.38 million.  
Police said he would be produced in courts shortly. (Supun Dias)
