Rs. 100 Mn worth expired chocolates seized

Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) officers confiscated 40,000 kilos of expired chocolate valued at Rs. 100 million in a warehouse in Seeduwa today, when it was about to be repacked, the Internal Trade and Cooperatives Ministry said.

The warehouse owners had imported the stock from India and the Ministry said the chocolates had expired 18 months ago. (Lahiru Pothmulla)

    About 2 months back, date expired Happy cheese was discovered from a warehouse in the same area, while keeping them ready for new labeling.
