Several roads in Colombo including Town Hall, Horton Place, Thunmulla, Amarasekara Mw, Devi Balika has been flooded due to the heavy rain experienced in several parts of count this morning, police said.
Motorists have been asked to use alternative roads.
My bus took 45 minutes to travel from Battaramulla junction to Sethsiripaya today. About 400m. This was only a one night rain.

It has been identified from the ancient times that Colombo was a not place for a capital city. This is the reason why this place was not used as kingdoms. but eventually we have discovered this recently and it was even announced in news.

Calistus - U live in a well in Sri Lanka, when u have heavy rain no drainage system can take the amount of water.Watch foreign news and see what other countries going through when they have heavy rain, specially recent floods in Australia. Nothing positive in your comments. Sam

Bigfoot Friday, 25 May 2012 05:03 AM
It was a lot better in the 70's. Now the drains which were built by the British are blocked. We have only cosmetic city building.
Nodrog Friday, 25 May 2012 05:18 AM
Other countries also sometimes have flooded roads but they do something about it unlike here where we have the same problem each time it rains..
buffaloa citizen Friday, 25 May 2012 05:26 AM
We were made to understand that Galle Road from Col-Matara was totally congested thus the Southern Highway investing millions gone to China. Did we ever think that Col-Kandy was worse
