It is not the English that is important it is the message that he conveyed and understood by all that matters.
White man Friday, 22 November 2013 05:05 AM
He is not a English man to speak like Englishman. At least he know English to speak and understand. Ask those British people they can speak any other language? Don't try to measure people by their English, there are lots of great people in this world those who cannot people English at all. Don't be kalu suddha
Wisdom Friday, 22 November 2013 05:17 AM
Murali doesn't know what happened in north....He didn't live their during war to comment about it. Let the people who lived their should talk.
Mr retort Friday, 22 November 2013 05:21 AM
when he knows that he telling a deliberate lie to get into good books of MR his English was not coming out in a proper manner. But excuse him for the problems for him and his family if he talks the truth was gonna be enormous
SADA Friday, 22 November 2013 05:24 AM
Very good..Now he can be made a Deputy minister. He has now gratuated
channa Friday, 22 November 2013 05:34 AM
Sri Lankan Tamils and all other communities must pass resolution by APPROVING his all efforts up to now to enhance our country image in his personnel and group capacities. Murali Is a Gentlemen, People Loved to him.He will not cares or scared to narrow thinkers. My dear Tamil people who loves to harmony , peace STEP FORWARD against this action against this great player/ leader .
Fayad Friday, 22 November 2013 05:39 AM
Please come out & see the world with an open eye, than passing resolution & holding protest will not help the Tamils.
With his coaching one or two world class players can emerge from the north & east do not ruin their future for your political gain.

kusum Friday, 22 November 2013 12:06 PM
Looks like every body is shouting for their stomach.poor Sri Lank ans including Tamils, Muslims and Sinhalese are suffered during the terrorism and after.
deen Saturday, 23 November 2013 02:48 AM
You mean to say, If you do not have a good command of English you should keep mum.
Alistair Saturday, 23 November 2013 04:26 AM
Murali is perfectly right. To those who speak only on behalf of the Tamils remember that all communities (Sinhalese, Muslims and Burghers) were all affected when the LTTE exploded bombs in the rest of the country. The ones who talk on behalf of only the Tamils lived either in Colombo under security or overseas in the lap of luxury while funding the terrorists. It is unfair to pass judgement like this. Also remember every citizen of this country has the right to live where ever he chooses. So dont think that the North belongs only to the Tamils.
Bathiya Saturday, 23 November 2013 04:53 AM
"Pawam Murali, he will loose his coaching job with SLC.
Shanmugam Saturday, 23 November 2013 05:53 AM
Though LTTE diaspora or separatists Tamils in the north are disappointed on Murali's statement we as moderate Tamils live in Sri Lanka feel Sri Lanka's sovereignty cannot be compromised.
james bond Saturday, 23 November 2013 10:29 AM

There is paradigm change!
ANTON Friday, 22 November 2013 12:46 AM
TAKE IT ON THE CHIN MURALI, MORE THAN 80% SRILANKAN, INCLUDING UPCOUNTRY TAMILS ARE WITH YOU.
Real Peace Thursday, 21 November 2013 05:45 PM
Not only Murali made blunders in his interview to Channel 4, but also in bad English! His command of English is appalling!
David Thursday, 21 November 2013 06:09 PM
"Perhaps, Praba's and other Tamil politician's children overseas when the Tamil people in the North were suffering and scores of young men and women disappeared. He has hurt the feelings of the Tamil people, grieving the loss of their loved ones, by undermining their struggles.”
Now that's more suitable statement.

Dont get too emotional and excited - whatever Muttiah said was true, every one has a certain freedom in this country which we cant deny. Not particularly TAMIL people struggle in the Island, if you all talking about struggle almost all middle class and poor people struggle regardless the cast or religiuos. Even now people struggle in SL. Boycotting his sport grants in north or east is a coawrd act and again TAMILs deviding themself.
Gobba Thursday, 21 November 2013 06:44 PM
Now this is really stupid. Gobba decisions like this can't be made by responsible people!
Lanka Friday, 22 November 2013 12:00 AM
How about the other SriLankans mothers who are greving because of the terrorism? Are these headless chickens think that Tamils are the only humans on this earth? and have rights applicable to them now not when terrorists massacre, suicide blast other SL people.. via DM Android App
Manel Friday, 22 November 2013 12:15 AM
We Sinhalese still love you an respect you for your ability to play cricket. Please do not lose all that by trying to play politics. In SL it is a dirty game played by self seeking and uneducated thugs and crooks whose primary aim is to serve themselves and their families with total disregard to poor masses.
Ruwan Fernando Friday, 22 November 2013 12:18 AM
Murali - thank you for showing us with your brilliant records and charming and trademark smile that it is completely possible for ALL Sri Lankans to play as one team! Something that is hard to find in most parts of Sri Lanka.
Chavakachcheri UC members - while scores of young Tamil men and women were dying Murali was one of the best examples of reconciliation and peace making. Sadly, you good people don't seem to see that and choose to sling mud at anyone who decides to speak his mind... ah ... I'm beginning to see your qualifications to be in the UC.
Hope you are not taking any of the benefits of being in the UC as well till grieving process and struggles are completed.

Bitter truth Chavakachcheri Urban Council member can speek out now.. If they did same speak while Praba karan alive they too disparead Muralitharan was playing cricket overseas..
kosala Friday, 22 November 2013 12:51 AM
He can go any where in this world. Because he is real Tamil person.
Janaki Kalansuriya Friday, 22 November 2013 12:59 AM
Oh Sri Lanka. To be or not to be!!!!
dushan Friday, 22 November 2013 04:26 AM
Though whoever the idiots are worrying about destroying LTTE, we are really happy of it. These mentally ill people always worrying about only of their race, north and money receiving from abroad. The truth is that they worry only of their comfort
Thomas Friday, 22 November 2013 04:27 AM
Murali being a sportsman, should have kept aloof from making political statements
Rob Friday, 22 November 2013 04:27 AM
I thought the TNA is a political party that values democratic principals? This is an extension of a scaled down version of LTTE's policy of eliminating anyone who spoke against them. If they protest when he holds cricketing camps for kids, the losers will be the Tamil kids.
Dave Thomas Friday, 22 November 2013 04:29 AM
He is a bad guy because he told trying to unite Sr Lankans. Nice.
Simple Friday, 22 November 2013 04:29 AM
What about all the people of other communities and in the south who suffered immensely and had their kith and kin killed. All Sri Lankans suffered in the hands of ruthless terrorists for many long years. Your resolution has hurt all Sri Lankans, but the resolution of a mere Local Authority is quite insignificant to the resolution of an international legend.
Sim Friday, 22 November 2013 04:50 AM
How about the Muslims chased, raped killed and their property and wealth looted by the Tamils from Jaffan and Mannar ???
Seeni Bowller Friday, 22 November 2013 04:55 AM
Lal, Please don't speak about educational background!
You check your spellings in the last para of your statement.
You even can not spell the word "This" .
ish Friday, 22 November 2013 04:56 AM
who says he cannot go to any other country ....canada might be yes......but he can go to other 2 countries(uk and Aus) when ever he wants or feels because he is someone who can teach cricket to people who taught us cricket .and he have declined several invtations from aussi after the retierment to train their bowling squad .but he decline all the invitations since he wanted to devolop SL cricket Specially in Nothern and eastern areas ...he can go to India anytime since his wife is an indian.
