While claiming that it would publish the report of the Panel of Experts concerning Sri Lanka, in full and without amendment soon, the United Nations yesterday said that it was still trying to ascertain whether Sri Lanka is willing to avail themselves of the offer.
Addressing the daily media briefing acting deputy spokesperson for the UN Chief, Farhan Haq said “It is our intention to release it as soon as is possible, and we still would like to publish it simultaneously with a response by the Sri Lankan Government.”
“We are still trying to ascertain whether they are willing to avail themselves of this offer,” he added.
The Spokesperson said that the United Nations is in talks with the Sri Lankan Government, including through its Permanent Mission to the United
Nations, to see whether Sri Lanka would avail itself in good faith of the opportunity to respond to the report.
He emphasized that the United Nations would issue the report in full. At the same time, it was allowing the involved Member State to exercise its own right to respond.
Asked whether the Panel ohas verstepped its mandate, the Spokesperson said the report would speak for itself. He added that the Secretary-General believed the Panel had performed its job conscientiously.
Asked about the leaking of the report, Haq said that the United Nations has kept scrupulously to its word to keep the contents of the report confidential until it is released.
Dont worry .Our wimal will look after this matter, curently he is in the cargills buying lemon puff.

T.K.note the Aggressor's were the LTTE. However much successive Govt's tried to come into brokered peace agreements the LTTE grew bolder and the intensity of the Violence UN leashed by the LTTE increased. So much so the Majority of Citizens in S.L. be it Sinhalese,Tamils,Muslims etc.etc.etc got hit and living daily became dangerous. Under these circumstances GOSL had no option but go all out to eradicate the LTTE Terror. Hence as in any war there may have been innocent casualties but the war waged on LTTE was in consideration of the majority non terrorist citizens living in S.L. yearning for Peace. Hence it is obvious that the UN is trying to please people outside the framework of the Majority Lankans living is S.L. reasons best known to the UN.

Can terrorism be defeated by fighting a war according to rules? Do terrorists kill according to rules of war? Are the US, France & UK fighting terrorists in other countries according to rules? Will they fight terrorists in their own countries without excesses? These countries spawn terrorists where there are language, caste, religious & other differences in other countries by arming one against the other for their benefit.
TY Saturday, 23 April 2011 05:29 AM
The UN bullies try to dominate the less privileged countries like SL. We have rich heritage of over 2600 years, we fought the battle with friendly countries supporting us to defeat the terrorist. Where was the UN when the innocents of all community was killed by the brutality of the LTTE. Lets forget our cast, creed, part color and religious beliefs. Can UN send their panel to Israel to look into all sorts of killings, land grabbing etc. We must stand to protect our freedom and it shows how we Sri Lankans can forget the brutality and now condemning the President and his team. Its shows the gratitude of few Sri Lankans. Plz don't allow Sri Lanka to be another Afgan, Iraq, Tunasia, Libya, Baharain, Syria etc.
Lanke Banda Saturday, 23 April 2011 02:29 AM
UN send the report to No 10,,White House,Elysee Palace where Banki's sincere friends are and whom he is hell bend to oblige on behalf of the Tiger Terror Supporters in those countries.

This shows that even the western media is biased. How can they take a vote and then remove one name when that person came in the top 10.
If this happens in Sri Lanka, there will be a lot of demonstrations by the media people. Now who will demonstrate against this biased action by TIME?

Musthafa Saturday, 23 April 2011 09:51 AM
Is it UN report? or just advise to ban ki moon , how to make report on SL - I am so complicated by this? also The panel must tell Baki about last 30 years conflict and number of human violation by both side. also It should address all humanitarian measures taken by the GOSL during last moment of the war, when LTTE used civilians as human shield. how can Panel get some pictures and video for last war ? from tamil cinema? by edited by them as evidence???
We urged GOSL and other international community to analyze this report part-by part with evidence. also it must be studied from 1983.

One part will become China and other part become Indians. All Srilanka will have to go overseas because they all like it IF not why all the Sinhalese who went on government scholarship not coming back .All professionals in oversea should back to the country. Dont allow people like Mervin to rule Srilanka. All the professional Singalse are silent because government is using racism card and staying in power.

samath Saturday, 23 April 2011 09:19 AM
Well what all you Sinhalese says that it is not fair, have you ever thought whether Tamils think its fair?, after all they are the subject and what if they still want the same demands? we have to come to negotiations with them and nothing so far has been done towards that? Just a crush of LTTE wont heal tamil peoples wounds, still TNA wins in Jaffna isn't it? so we need a more flexible political agreement.

When will Israel brought to justice for the killing of innocent elders, children and women as well as the journalists. None of these countries will be bought to justice as these countries have brought the UN under their justice. US is a scarecrow belonging to US, UK, European and it's allies
