A man who is alleged to have used a can of spray paint to write derogatory words about the president on a billboard outside the Fort Railway Station was remanded till September 9 by a Colombo Court.

The suspect R. G. Roshan Malinda of Ja-Ela was arrested while in the act of defacing the billboard.

The police told the Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne the man had not only written derogatory words against the president and his government but had also committed mischief by causing damage to the hoarding put up by the Self Employees’ Association.

The police told the Court that the suspect had been convicted by a Korean Court for over staying his visa. Meanwhile, the Magistrate ordered the prison authorities to obtain a psychiatric report and submit it on the next hearing date. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

Mentally sick people. Govt: try to keep capital like clean and beautiful. Just writing rubbish on the walls and billboard. Like S'pore or Hong kong he will put in to jail with good fine. This is the reason why other countries treat as lower class. If country can clean and beautiful we are proved
