This is ridiculous. IF he will be released, it must be with a range of gag orders. He must not be given a passport for the rest of his life. Must be baned from talking to media. He must be like a pussy cat under a bed. otherwise this whole nation will be in deep trouble.
shakespeare Saturday, 31 December 2011 11:34 PM
The UNP is asking for the impossible because HONESTLY they don't want to have SF released as they then they [ unp ] lose another CHEWING GUM to while away the time.

2/3 Majority, Police, Judiciary, Armed forces, Provincial Councils,Pradeshiya Sabha are all in their hands, yet they are dead scarred of this Gallant Hero. Cowards die hundred times before they really die but the likes of Gen. Sarath Fonseka die only once. Sometimes I wonder how greatful we are as a nation.
sara Sunday, 01 January 2012 05:34 AM
Thanks to your JRJ all UNP is suffering from Civic Rights mania now but not during 77 era.
Are you enjoying CR within your party Karu and Sajith?
Aught to be ashamed Karu, Sajith and the rest of UNP
Ordinary Man. Sunday, 01 January 2012 05:58 AM
Whoever doesn't, the ordinary masses in this country cry in unison for SF's unconditional release. That cry is coming from their hearts and it is genuine.
gorakaya Sunday, 01 January 2012 06:28 AM
Provided he joins the correct party, and that is MR's party.
Danuna Sunday, 01 January 2012 06:41 AM
Remember, this is the man who said that his own army killed the people with a white flag.
Remember, This is the man who asked the president to be ready with rags to go to Bogambara.
Yahiya Sunday, 01 January 2012 07:44 AM
If release more pain to Ranil.
bala Saturday, 31 December 2011 06:17 PM
Hi,
Most here want a UNP governement some way .. if I am rught !... But for a Man of dignity like Ranil need a government only after the present government failed to do its duties... (not just one or two.. but most ) Now this government is almost over the half way mark of ending it's life cycle... Ranil is the greatest leader we have after JR (Lalith Gamini included if alive) All others like Karu .. Sajith Basil are jokers..
UNP need to rise at right time.. it's like a timed jump to cath a ball not late or early... Ranil is doing just that...
Wait and see the best of this big brain !
till then God bless Sri Lanka !
asoka abeywardena Sunday, 01 January 2012 09:20 AM

Chamara Monday, 02 January 2012 01:33 AM
A nation full of ungrateful, selfish people and power greedy politicians.
Rock Monday, 02 January 2012 04:19 AM
It seems that your unaware that SF is a political prisoner. He went prison because he ran for presidency. Hence he was charged and locked up. Even if he has done something wrong what about all the other scum who is living freely around the country, and even who is within the government as well. At least this man fought for our country, led the armed forces and came victorious. What did Mervin or Duminda or any other thug that's living freely has done for this country, except destroying it. I think they should be locked up first not SF. He should be released unconditionally.
Matalan Saturday, 31 December 2011 02:02 PM
The greatest virtue of General Fonseka is that he commands respect & recognition from all sections and colours. Sri Lankans have it their blood to separate the genuine from a humbug.
ParakramaJ Friday, 30 December 2011 09:59 PM
I do not think he should be released unconditionally. The rights he loses as a citizen due to his convictions should stand.Furthermore the cases against him should not be withdrawn...specially as his son-in-law is a fugative from justice and a judicial decision should be obtained on that particular case. The serious charge of employing former army men who have been absconding from duties should also be completed and the judicial decisions obtained. It is immaterial whether he is in jail or under house arrest, but his arrogance should be brought down to earth.so that he will learn to live like a sri lankan buddhist and not someone from another planet!!!
Chandana Saturday, 31 December 2011 07:11 AM
yes, release him with civil rights
samosa Saturday, 31 December 2011 07:20 AM

If he is released who will take the credit? Tiran Allas? UNP reformists? or MR?
Lalith Friday, 30 December 2011 07:46 PM
All the prisoners in the jail have civic rights. The law is equal to every citizen.
Giniwelle Saturday, 31 December 2011 02:14 PM
President should do whatever these two urge to do, because they did everything within the party what President wanted to do.
tilak Saturday, 31 December 2011 02:22 PM
UNP.s are willing to be Mr Fonseka in jail as they need to get political advantage through him. otherwise no more facts to against GOSL..
DJ Saturday, 31 December 2011 02:57 PM
He is the most well known Political Prisoner in all of Asia. A fiasco which has brought so much shame and discredit to Sri Lanka should end at least now. Hope sanity will prevail and the President will release him unconditionally.
sonaboy Saturday, 31 December 2011 03:22 PM
