Video: Ravi wants Sajith to contest Southern polls

United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake said today he was prepared to contest the elections to the Western Provincial Council (WPC).

He urged UNP front-liner Sajith Premadasa to take over the leadership of the Southern Province and pose a challenge to the Government at the upcoming Provincial Council Elections.

“We are having discussions with all political parties on the possibility of contesting the upcoming provincial council elections as a common opposition. The confidence which had eroded in the past is gaining momentum again. So I urge Sajith Premadasa to take on the leadership of the Hambantota District while I take on the leadership of the Colombo district and let’s pose a challenge to this corrupt regime and send it home rather than wasting time fighting among ourselves,” Mr. Karunanayke said. ManThillekeratne: Voters always go for the sensational characters who can perform monkey dances on the stage and scream at the top of their voices (e.g. Weerawansa) which Ranil is not capable of. So, the voters rejection is not a barometer to judge Ranil's capabilities as a leader.
