Opposition and UNP leader Ranil Wickramasingha criticized Speaker W.J.M Lokubandara in Parliament this morning for failing to respond to letters sent by him on two new UNP members who were to take oaths today.
However responding to this, Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said Parliament was convened today to extend the emergency and not for any other matter.

The sad thing is the traditions that we thought inviolable are getting dishonoured one by one. And to boot, WJM who has been boasting about the Sacred Sri Lankan history, is the transgressor.
