Why don't we get the pensioners and students back to work again????? (Being Sarcastic here)

    Sweat Thursday, 16 August 2012 09:36 AM

No need to be sarcastic, do get the capable graduates who cry for gourventment jobs, and when they strike get the next lot and so on & on & on.

With all these strikes by electricity workers, railway workers, university lecturers and even doctors, the whole country would come to a standstill, with only the politicians going about their business.

the competent graduates are already employed. You cant run the railways dept with arts graduates etc.

    Raj Thursday, 16 August 2012 10:28 AM

go on, till you get stooges who can further ruin the country

    Alex Thursday, 16 August 2012 10:43 AM

This is just one of sri lankan government owened organization getting ruined very soon.

All the developed countries, even in countries in Asia like Singapore is highly concentrated on the developmen of their rail road network since that is the most cheapest, fastest and sustainable MRT (Mass Rapid Transist) system. In contradictory Sri Lanka no one seems to be interested to develop or at least keep the rail system at the present conditiions.

Seriously, there seems to be either a strike or a protest march every week.

    Sarneris Thursday, 16 August 2012 11:20 AM

    ChamaraJ Thursday, 16 August 2012 11:28 AM

Oh..... come on......what is going on.......Atitude of the authorities ????? take a good look in the mirror uncle....you and your boys give that to us everytime we come to purchase a ticket......BTW, I have planned a trip with my family for the weekend....pls operate the trains OK.....I don't have money to hire a car......thank you uncle......

Yes, The railway is in bad shape. This is because of the attitude of the railway works who come in contact with the general public. The have no sense of customer care. You can experience this if you visit a railway station to buy a ticket for travel. They show step motherly attitude to the luxury service run by the private sector. The railway only talk of how they are losing money. The never come up with a plan to increase revenue and service levels. The do not deserve any salary increase.

    grad_engineer Thursday, 16 August 2012 01:21 PM

they can do the station master jobs...

    Chapman Friday, 17 August 2012 05:13 AM

Railway has shown no progress in the past few decades. CEB, Telecom,SLPA and even CPC have been adopting to modern technologies and their capacity also incresed significantly in recent past.
Due to incompetence of the staff and lack of political motivation capacity of the railway network is still same as the pre independance era while other countries rapidly developing their railway facilities.
Hence drastic reformation is needed in Railway Dept. before fulfilling their grievances
