A quality control procedure will be put in place for all mobile phone imports from next year, Anusha Palpita, Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission told Daily Mirror online.

He added that there was no quality control for import of mobile phones at the moment and that cheap low quality and unreliable phones were being sold in the island.  An EMI number is available in original, quality regulated phones and most of the phones in the market do not posses this identification, Director Palpita said. When a mobile phone is lacking quality only the buyer suffers, but when the quality of the governance is lacking, the entire nation suffers.

What people cry for today is the quality in governance and not of mobile phones.
