Protest continues

The protest organised by the UNP today is still continuing despite heavy police presence. The STF have just arrived at the scene and are armed with weapons. The MPs present at the scene have left the site after General Secretary Tissa Attanayake and stalwart Joseph Michael Perera urged protestors to leave peacefully. The roads are still closed with bus transport coming to a standstill. (Yohan Perera)

    It's a shame that the politicians who called the masses to rally, retreating at the climax of the protest, leaving the people to suffer. It is not amusing that they loose elections, after doing things like this. They do not know to make a stand for the people. They only wan't to get power...
