The Police have begun investigations over the failure by nightclubs to check the identification of teenagers who visit these places despite being underage which is a violation of the existing laws.

An official from the Police Women and Children’s Bureau told Daily Mirror online that several complaints have been received of underage teenagers allowed entry into nightclubs and then being able to purchase alcohol over the counter without their identifications being checked.

The official added that drugs were also freely circulated in the nightclubs which resulted to an increase in drug usage amongst the teenagers.

“We have launched an investigation into this matter and will very soon conduct raids if this continues,” the official said.

When contacted, the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) said that teenagers visiting nightclubs was a cause for concern amongst the authorities especially after the teenagers freely purchased drugs and alcohol.

“This has become an issue because the teenagers go to these nightclubs and buy drugs. This comes under the matter of the police who are looking into it,” an NCPA officer said. (Daily Mirror online)

What about the irresponsible parents who don't monitor these kids? Parents are the first and most important safeguard! If they let them, they surely will run amok!

How old were you when you first went to a night club? I'm sure you were dying to go when you were 14. Don't be such a hypocrite man.

    Raj Wednesday, 04 August 2010 04:30 AM

Why wasting time on checking on night clubs!?
Clubs do not suit our culture[!!!?].

Block all the clubs! I know it is not possible because all of them are run be ministers and law makers.

If those are belonging to public, then the other day it will be sealed!

Just Another Citizen Tuesday, 03 August 2010 12:06 PM

Scott THomas Wednesday, 04 August 2010 09:28 AM

The clubs should use ID scanning systems like they do in England - these read all the IDs and calculate the Age and check for fakes - there are systems like clubscan or agesafe or a company like idscan.co.uk - this would solve the problem

    D Wednesday, 04 August 2010 05:22 AM

    I was 19 :) I had a childhood.

    rishan Wednesday, 04 August 2010 05:31 AM

anyone under 18 should be banned from entering the club ( ID checked been carried out in europe, uk,us ), bouncers are there not to stop violent crowd but to stop entering underage kids as well.

    sltk2004 Tuesday, 03 August 2010 12:26 PM

    roshan w Tuesday, 03 August 2010 12:56 PM

Now is the time to ACT ,or this will be a major problem. These under aged clubbers MUST be locked up .As a warning to others.Parents must be warned as well.
