What "Badumila" Gunawardene is saying is that they will control the prices until the election is over, allow people to celebrate new year, and then, let the prices 'sky rocket,' with a big bang! By then, they would have all made it to Parliament, to enjoy the subsidized food.

Trim the extraordinary facilities given to parliamentarians and ministers. After all, they are there to serve the people - not to enjoy luxury lifestyles, by further 'squeezing' the 'hand-to-mouth' living standards of the common people.
