Power cuts have impacted the safe drinking water supply in the country due to the interruption in the operation of pumping stations, officials said today. The National Water Supply and Drainage Boards requested the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to look into this matter.

“More than the dry spell, the power cut has made an impact.  It is difficult to operate pumping machines without electricity. It is a serious issue. We have brought this notice to the CEB. Drought has affected water supply from natural springs only,” Board’s General Manager Lal Premanath told Daily Mirror online. (Kelum Bandara)

Of course, one disaster leads to another as there is a thing called chain reaction. And now water cuts are going to affect the whole routine of the public who go on paying hefty bills for both electricity and water with no proper service in return. Wonder what development that the government members are talking about day in and day out.

sure it has affected the Water Board but power cut has not affected the Day-nite SLPLs. Miraclwe indeed!

When they cut electricity they blame water levels and rain. When they cut water they blame electricity. When they cut both they blame bad diesel. Increase from 15% to 35% commission for all ministers to remedy this malaise to the masses.

Whats wrong with your water supply. It is the only thing that a government organization gives without much burden to the public. we pay less than Rs.1000 per month for 4 member family. But how much do we pay for 1 person's mobile phone bill per month? and what are the monthly rental's for them? Do you ever skip a monthly bill of your mobile phone. But how many months do you skip before you pay a water or electricity bill? Think twice before you blame on them.
