Trincomalee District Assistant Elections Commissioner M.M. Nishantha Dinipriya today charged that the police had failed to remove illegal election propaganda material displayed in the Trincomalee area despite earlier assurances.
Dinipriya made these observations at a meeting with senior police officers in the area with regard to election law violations in the district.
Particular attention was drawn by him on the display of posters, banners and cut-outs even in the vicinity of security posts.

Why do we keep blaming the police for everything wrong in this country? When politicians violate the election law, isn't it they who should be penalized? Politicians not adhering to the law of the country brings-up a serious question as to their suitability to make and administer the law. This situation is very pathetic indeed.
