The Slave Island police was ordered by the Courts today to show cause on April 29th as to why they failed to appear in Court today following a Court order to that effect. The case was over the arrest of a group of monks in Fort yesterday.
The Slave Island police had earlier filed a case saying the monks had obstructed the public by putting up a stage and holding a hunger strike yesterday demanding the release of General Sarath Fonseka.
Meanwhile the Fort police informed Court that the monks were removed by the Slave Island police with the knowledge of the Fort police for their own safety. (TFT)
