You never said this when they were closed for VIP convoys few years ago !!!

Come on they are asking a basic right - Education.
Doing little extra nusence should be tolerated.....

    Prasanna Wednesday, 29 August 2012 09:07 AM

Do you want them to do this at home ???
True you will get annoyed when in traffic for hours, but it is for those students also to at least be in their own car one day. Else they will have to walk on the road for ever.

    Achari Wednesday, 29 August 2012 09:34 AM

Why this Kalabala????? These politicos give false promises and now is the time to pay back.

    Lal Wednesday, 29 August 2012 09:15 AM

Welldone police!! All the roads are stuck because of these sick kids. Why cant they do whatever they want in the pavement, without blockng the damn road???

    Dee Wednesday, 29 August 2012 09:16 AM

Free education????????? taxpayers pay for it! we pay. they play!

    dachee Wednesday, 29 August 2012 09:29 AM

These are public nuisance created by cheap JVPers with hidden agendas.

    prasad Wednesday, 29 August 2012 09:26 AM

you all did not have any problem when the roads were closed for funny car races. You never asked for your right as a tax payer. All those politicos using a line of vehicles always block the roads causing traffic jams. Then you never stand for your rights as a tax payer. These students are not idiots. They are the new generation and hope for the nation.

    dimuthu Wednesday, 29 August 2012 09:49 AM

shows Democracy. allowe to demonstrate. Use only water canon.

    Milanka Wednesday, 29 August 2012 09:40 AM

Their demands are not for personal interest, but for national interest.

    saman Wednesday, 29 August 2012 09:18 PM

results of free the education and young minds brainwashed by JVP.

Citizen senior Wednesday, 29 August 2012 10:43 PM

You realize, that in Sri Lanka they get FREE education?

Tear gas and water cannons are the ideal solution to solve the Z score issue, exam leaks, and closing of universities.

    ChamaraJ Wednesday, 29 August 2012 11:56 AM

Water Cannon is good for starters....now Kulu and Polu for the second course !!!!! lets go PO PO !!!

citizen junior Wednesday, 29 August 2012 12:51 PM

but let them not disrupt traffic flow, and inconveniece public

citizen junior Wednesday, 29 August 2012 12:56 PM

In London few month ago 30,000 students demonstrated against raising uni fees, this is nothing

Normal Citizen Friday, 31 August 2012 07:42 AM

The number of "dislikes" to this comment proves my point. These guys are a bunch of ungrateful cheap leeches and will continue to bleed the country of its resources without giving anything back in return.

Andrew Pitugala Wednesday, 29 August 2012 01:33 PM

Water cannons, tear gas are not the way to deal with the causes that make people protest. The grievances must be addressed and REASONABLE relief should be granted. After all they are all Citizens of Srilanka who make thier professional contributions and pay their taxes one way or the other.

Rubert Vanderkoon Wednesday, 29 August 2012 01:15 PM

They have the chance to be educated. They don't use that, the guys who should seek education and protest are the 380,000 who could not goto university, not the 20,000 who had the luck. While lecturers are dangling with the government, these guys could use this time wisely to learn something different. Undergrads should be able to self-learn as well.

    Rohan Friday, 31 August 2012 07:41 AM

Its very wrong for some to say that these kids are sick . they have a good reason to do this kind of protest. You all suported when that wimal went near UN office and dance then where were you all

    hashhhsl Wednesday, 29 August 2012 01:57 PM

So has the government given a sloution to the problem?

    sampath Thursday, 30 August 2012 05:34 AM

most of the students here came cause a few friends had told them to come

    a ahmed Wednesday, 29 August 2012 09:04 AM

it is very surprise to see that high profile students making nuisance to public doing protests at road, the protests are welcome but make sure it should not hurt to anybody or economy of the country.

Normal Citizen Thursday, 30 August 2012 06:16 AM

If they had to pay for their education like most people, they would not dare do such a thing. These are a bunch of leeches in the country. Next time the police should put chili powder in the water.

    White H Wednesday, 29 August 2012 09:07 AM

Y water cannon, it is raining now.

    dachee Wednesday, 29 August 2012 08:55 AM

Please disperse them, thousands have been stuck on roads for hours

    prasad Wednesday, 29 August 2012 09:12 AM

students are protesting not because of they don't have anything to do. Government has closed the universities and trying to destroy the fre education system. being blocked for an hour or two is not the problem. Government is trying to block the future of the country.

Political Illiterate Wednesday, 29 August 2012 09:13 AM
