Police shooting: Sergeant interdicted

A Police Sergeant attached to the Katunayake Police was today interdicted over an incident at which a man was injured in police firing.

On Thursday the police fired at a Three-wheeler after it refused to stop when ordered to do so at Minuwangoda.  However,a man standing nearby was injured in the firing and admitted to the Minuwangoda Hospital. He was later transferred to the Gampaha Hospital.    

The police sergeant was interdicted on the orders of Western Province DIG G. Kularatne, who investigated the incident. (Pushpakumara Mallawaarachchi)
